Benefits Of Being A Singapore Citizen
Once you have achieved Singapore Citizenship status, you are able to live, work, and be a part of Singapore society with full privileges equal to local born Citizens.

These are the benefits you enjoy as a Singapore Citizen:
1. Singapore Passport:
Singapore Citizens hold the second most powerful passport globally, providing visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 193 countries. This allows for greater freedom of travel and ease in international mobility, making it easier to travel for business, leisure, or education.
2. Civic Engagement and Democratic Participation:
As a Singapore citizen, you gain the right to vote in national and local elections, enabling you to actively participate in the democratic process. This right ensures that your voice is heard in the selection of government leaders and representatives who shape the policies and future of the country.
3. Employment Benefits:
As a Singapore Citizen, you gain access to a broader range of job opportunities and benefits not available to foreigners. This includes priority in job applications and access to roles reserved exclusively for citizens, ensuring a more secure and advantageous position in the job market.
4. Job Welfare Benefits:
Singapore Citizens benefit from robust employment protection schemes and fair wage policies implemented by the government. These schemes are designed to safeguard the local workforce, ensuring fair treatment, job security, and equitable wages.
5. CPF Benefits:
Once you become a Singapore Citizen, you will gain access to Singapore’s world-class Central Provident Fund (CPF) system. This comprehensive social security savings scheme offers numerous benefits such as housing, medical, investment and retirement. Your retirement life will be more secure as you can enjoy the strong financial support and protection provided by the provident fund system.
6. Healthcare Benefits:
You and your family gain access to special healthcare rates and benefits in both government and private hospitals, polyclinics, and private clinics. For example, the Singapore government has implemented a scheme called Medifund, designed as a safety net to assist Singaporean citizens who cannot afford their medical expenses, even after using other available subsidies and healthcare financing options.
7. Children Education Benefits:
Your children will receive first priority, equal to that of locally born citizens, when applying for schools and other educational benefits. This ensures better access to Singapore’s reputable education system, providing a strong foundation for their future. Permanent residents and foreigners typically pay heftier school fees as compared to Singapore citizens. Only Singapore citizens are eligible for education subsidies as well, such as Edusave.
8. Parenthood Benefits:
As a Singapore Citizen, you are entitled to various benefits and grants aimed at supporting parenthood and family growth. The government created the Baby Bonus Scheme and child care subsidy to help parents better manage related costs to ease the financial burden of raising a family in Singapore.
9. Housing Benefits:
As a Singapore Citizen, you can apply for and secure various loans for housing and property purchases in Singapore, often at better rates than those available to foreigners. Additionally, you become eligible to purchase or rent new government or public Housing Development Board (HDB) flats, which are typically more affordable than private properties, enhancing your property ownership options.
10.Tax Reliefs:
As a contributing member of Singapore society, you benefit from lower tax rates and specific tax reliefs designed for residents. These financial advantages increase your disposable income, providing economic benefits that are not available to foreigners.
